Fecundity Allocation in Some European Weed Species Competing with Crops

چکیده

Seed production is an important element of weed population dynamics, and persistence relies upon the soil seed bank. In 2017 2018, we studied relationship between aboveground dry biomass common species their production. Weeds were selected randomly in fields, surrounded plants with a porous net to collect shed seeds during growth season. Just before crop harvest, weeds harvested, plants’ weights measured, number retained on was counted. A linear produced estimated. This not affected by year for Avena spica-venti, Chenopodium album, Galium aparine, or Persicaria maculosa. Therefore, data two seasons pooled analysed together. For Alopecurus myosuroides, Anagallis arvensis, Capsella bursa-pastoris, Geranium molle, Polygonum aviculare, Silene noctiflora, Sonchus Veronica persica, Viola varied significantly years. 2017, growing season cold wet, slope regression lines less steep than 2018 most species. bursa-pastoris prolific producer steepest slope.

Weed Control with Cover Crops in Irrigated Potatoes

Field experiments at Oakes, ND, USA in 2010 and Carrington, ND, USA in 2011 were conducted to evaluate the potential for cover crops grown in the Northern Great Plains, USA in order to reduce weed emergence and density in irrigated potatoes. Treatments included five cover crop treatments and three cover crop termination treatments. Termination of cover crops was done with glyphosate, disk-till,...

Competing Allocation Rules in Networks∗

I examine a model in which two competing groups offer different allocation rules that may depend on the network of connections among the individuals that make up each group. I assume the existence of a single divisible good, such as a monetary prize, to be divided by each group. The probability of winning the prize will depend on the group sizes, but I examine a more general contest function as...

An Ultrasonic System for Weed Detection in Cereal Crops

Site-specific weed management requires sensing of the actual weed infestation levels in agricultural fields to adapt the management accordingly. However, sophisticated sensor systems are not yet in wider practical use, since they are not easily available for the farmers and their handling as well as the management practice requires additional efforts. A new sensor-based weed detection method is...
